Institut Polytechnique de Paris, CNRS and Thales have signed today a partnership for the creation of a joint laboratory for research and development of intense lasers. The HERACLES³ laboratory (Hautes Energies pour la Recherche en ACcélération Laser d'Electrons et Sources Secondaires à Saclay) aims to develop cutting-edge technologies based on intense lasers, with the potential for major industrial, medical and scientific applications.

For its first participation, Institut Polytechnique de Paris has made a strong entry, up to the 43rd place in the Times Higher Education (THE) world’s most international universities ranking 2022 . The first and only French institution in the Top 50, ahead of PSL University (64th), Sorbonne University (84th), University of Paris (93rd) and Paris-Saclay University (104th).

IRT SystemX welcomes two new founding members to its Board of directors: Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), which will be represented by Bruno Cattan (Head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Committee) and the Université Paris-Saclay. This integration, in the framework of a long-standing partnership between SystemX and the two institutions, is a sign of the strengthened dynamism on the Saclay plateau.
